Rock lovers in the city have something to look forward to tonight. The B-School of Rock (BSOR), the biggest rock competition in Bangalore, is back again with a bang. Keeping with its past trends, this year’s flagship festival at IIM Bangalore's annual cultural fest Unmaad promises to be bigger and better. The massive musical extravaganza will feature competing bands and special headliners at the Open Air Theatre of IIM, Bangalore from 5 p.m. onwards.

BSOR has grown into a veritable hotspot for professional and semi-professional bands across the country. Envisioning the promotion of rock music in India, BSOR in the past has been the launchpad for several bands with nationwide appeal today, which include Public Issues, Inner Sanctum, Parvaaz, The Down Troddence and more.

With entries from over a 100 top bands from across the country this year, only a chosen few make it to the final title clash. And with the stakes as high as Rs. 70,000 for the first prize and Rs. 30,000 as the second prize up for grabs and a chance to release their music globally through partner site Songdew, the final line up for this year’s rock battle is as follows: Cheisrah, 30ton Capacity and White Mug - all from Bangalore, Chrome.O.Soul from Chennai, Head Motif from Darjeeling and Zero Gravity from Indore.

The night will also feature headlining acts by Blackstratblues, Karsh Kale and The Down Troddence.

Music lovers at the adventure-filled event will get to witness the multi-talented Karsh Kale and the marvellous Blackstratblues, the solo project of guitarist, songwriter and music producer Warren Mendonsa, at the rock festival. With two critically-acclaimed albums under his wings, Warren will deliver melodic guitar solos in Blackstratblues highlighting his stunning musical prowess.

Visionary composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Karsh Kale will mesmerise the crowd along with Blackstratblues. The pioneer of the Asian Underground genre, Karsh will team up with Warren for a night of spectacular musical extravagance.

To top up the already brimming music treat, folk-trash metal band The Down Troddence will also perform as part of the show. With a full-fledged debut album released on New Year’s eve, the six-piece band, that has its roots in BSOR, will launch the headlining show with a scintillating blend of soulful, upbeat, rock-heavy music. Entry is free for the event. Call 9742011477 for more details.
