Pathos gets a grand makeover in an upcoming single track album called Bulbu. The love-failure song has catchy lyrics and satire, and the accompanying video has actor Ganesh Prasad and actor Iniya (who featured in the National award winning film Vaagai Sooda Vaa) dancing. Ganesh promises that with grandiose VFX effects, the video will be a visual treat. “It has been shot using green matte technique. We spent about 35 days on VFX for the album. The production quality is as good as a movie song,” he adds.

‘Bulbu’ is the first single track video album to be formally released on Sun Music this Saturday at 5 p.m. “In Hollywood and Bollywood we often see the release of single track video albums that are not necessarily connected with the films. But in Tamil, Bulbu is a first,” says Ganesh, who is from Coimbatore.

The single track sung by Abishek and Prasanth to Mastan- Khader’s music is a tried and tested love-failure song. A.R Barath Kumar has written and directed the song that goes like ‘Engadi Pona Nee Emathi Pona Nee’. “‘Bulbu’ means disappointment. The dejected lover writes poetry when his girl friend dumps him. Today’s youth responds to the ‘bulbu’ by taking to social media and trolling the girl who cheated them with peppy lyrical songs,” says Ganesh.

Rapper Prasanth has done the rap portion in the song. Ganesh has two new films coming up in August. In Tharkaapu, a crime thriller, he has a negative role. He is one of the heroes in the two-hero film Karaiyoram (made in Telugu as Leela and in Kannada as Alone).

Karaiyoram also features veteran actors such as Simran, Radha Ravi, and Iniya and will hit the screens in August.

But Ganesh is quick to point out that ‘Bulbu’ has nothing to do with his upcoming films.

“It’s a new concept and we are looking at a revenue backed system too for the album. Once it grabs the attention after the launch, we will explore all other channels like YouTube, iTunes and more on the social media,” he says. Kinetoscope Production’s DR.S. Selvamuthu & Manjunath have produced the ‘Bulbu’ song. Saregama India Limited is releasing it.

There are also plans to release a video on the making of the album. Ganesh is also shooting for another album titled Jana Gana Mana, something on the lines of A.R. Rahman’s Vande Maatram. “The patriotic song in the album is sung by veteran singers like Mano and Nithyashree. Many celebrities have been roped in for the video. It will be released on August 15,” says Ganesh.

Bulbu is expected to inspire other independent music composers to make single track albums
