The swank Emporio mall in New Delhi’s Vasant Kunj has now yet another address for you to dine out. AUMA is aimed at giving you a luxurious dining experience. Designed to define fine dining space with contemporary styling, it has an à la carte menu of cuisines varying from Mediterranean, Italian to Oriental. The restaurant has an urbane yet relaxed ambience where one can have a fine dining experience with family and friends.

To beat the scorching heat of Delhi, I start my food trip at Auma with a chilled kiwi Mojito. The fruity taste and the soothing pale green colour of the drink, must admit, is pretty refreshing.

Time to choose starters and Iopt for some authentic Oriental fare such as laab kai, a delicacy made by blending traditional Thai herbs and spices with boneless chicken mince. You can also have it with jasmine rice. Yet another good starter here is Cajun spice chicken skewers. It comes with a layer of chilli flakes on top and positively contributes to better the taste.

As my starters are incomplete without a prawn dish, I try out its breaded butterfly prawns. Each prawn has a really crunchy exterior but suitably succulent inside.

Moving on to the main course, I pick pla phirk sole. The fish fillet comes dipped in a sweet chilli sauce adding a perfect Oriental taste of honey mixed with spices.

I itch for a good steak and the restaurant manager, Rahul, suggests me the New Zealand lamb rack and the tenderloin with three pepper sauce. One bite and I am not disappointed. It’s hard to find well done tenderloin in Delhi restaurants but Auma is the place to visit again and again for it.

In dessert, it has all the usual suspects — tiramisu, hazelnut cake, hot dark chocolate brownie, all taste how they should taste.
