After successfully showcasing their films Zindagaani and The Daring Tourist at an international film festival, AISFM alumni Akshat Ajay Sharma and Nagasarath Pandurangi are now basking in the success of their two short films Parabola and Silence . Made as part of their graduation projects, the films have received a lot of critical acclaim and have been showcased at various film festivals across the country.
While Parabola is the story of a man who encounters different people that form an ambiguous part of his life, Silence is inspired by the composition of 4’3” of John Cage and is the story of a musician Charles trying to find solace in the quest he has embarked on.
Both the films received great response in the film festival arena with awards at the Mumbai International Short Film Festival. Recently the AISFM graduates also organised a screening of their films for the public with Amala Akkineni, Rajesh Touchriver and Ram Holagundi gracing the occasion. The films were well appreciated with Amala saying, “It is nice to see characters take their time on screen, it is such a rarity now-a-days. The strength of an indie filmmaker is how adaptive he is and these films are an example of how great films can be made in Low Budget also.”
According to Akshat, filmmaking has taught him to be patient. “Patience is very important for a filmmaker because it helps you keep calm and concentrate on the output. Filmmaking is always team work and I am fortunate to have such a good team with me. Naga in particular has been the backbone of the team.” The cast of the film included Aditya Pamnani and Sravan Kumar while the crew had Pavan Kumar and Siddharth Reddy handling cinematography.
