Stanley's nostalgic charm

Movie: Stanley ka Dabba

Cast: Partho, Divya Dutta, Divya Jagdale, Amole Gupte

Stanley is a bright kid who studies in Std IV and doesn't bring lunch. However, his classmates are there for him and Stanley fills his hungry stomach with food from his friends' dabbas.

Like every school, here too we have a strict, strange teacher Babubhai Verma (played by Amol Gupte). He loves plundering his students' dabbas. Now begins the tug of war between Stanley and his wicked teacher. The first half is better paced than the second half. The climax has a message that also reveals why Stanley doesn't bring his own dabba.

Since the plot takes place in a school, how can one miss the regular characters? So, there is Rosy Miss, a pretty English teacher and a Mrs. Iyer, the science teacher who help keep the movie real and create the typical school ambience. We can easily relate them to them from our school days.

Star cast

Partho (son of Amole Gupte) as Stanley is brilliant. He is natural throughout. Not to leave out his gang. The children of the class are natural actors and it's a pleasure to watch them.

Amole Gupte (writer-producer-director-actor) is a researcher of children's behaviour and his effort shows. Divya Dutta as Rosy Miss is sweet. Divya Jagdale who plays Mrs. Iyer looks real and rational.

However, the music could have been a bit more emotional and touching. Nevertheless, one cannot help but feel nostalgic after watching “Stanley Ka Dabba”.

Bottomline: Watch this family entertainer to revisit your school days.
