Until we last...

Until we last...

And the rest is history…

Until We Last is a post-rock band started in 2011 by Ketan Bahirat. It was originally started off as a one-man bedroom project. Over a course of three months, a line-up was being formed to take the music live.

In October 2011, a full line-up of the band came together to work on writing new material as well as playing live. After a couple months of live shows, the line-up dissolved and Ketan and Ayush went back to the jam room to compose music.

December 2012 marked the start of Until We Last as a full-time band with Bhargav taking over second guitar duties, Ralston on the drums and Anjan Bhojraj on Bass guitar. In February 2013, Bhargav left India to continue his studies abroad. The band then recruited Chaithanya on guitars to complete the line-up and continue playing live.

Your kinda music…

We play guitar melody-driven instrumental rock, which we like to call Post-Rock. It has a lot of ambient layers and sounds involved; it is more of creating a whole atmosphere than just a song.

Musically high…

All of us listen to completely different genres of music, ranging from Classic Rock, Psychedelic, Electronic and metal, but we all have a soft spot for Post-rock; it’s an amazing genre which is open to different sounds and experimentation. I think that’s why we love it the most.

Feathers in your cap…

In the short span of our lives in this band, we’ve had quite a few achievements. Being involved in international compilations such as Elements 01 by thefuturelements.com and the RibsOut compilation based in Belgium would be notable ones!

We were extremely thrilled to be on the same compilation with bands from across the world.

Home and away…

Our first performance outside Bangalore was in Chennai, at Unseen Underground Saturday Night Live in Geoffrey’s Pub last month. It was great playing here as most of the crowd was enjoying listening to something different from the usual. We can’t wait to get back and play at Chennai again! The Chennai crowd is very enthusiastic about new styles of music.

Show stoppers…

Two of our most important performances were definitely — playing at Hard Rock Cafe last month as a part of Hard Rock Rising, as well as the Indie March Fest at CounterCulture. Both the shows were a blast to play and we enjoyed ourselves.

Reason to celebrate…

I think our main highlight is how different we are from other bands in the local scene. We play a form of music that hasn’t been experimented with in India so much and we’re trying to get more and more people into it because it’s a great genre of music to listen to.

So if you’re around, you know you can’t miss us!
