Atishe and Nishyta Chordia promise ‘crunchy, crispy, pure and original doodledesigns’. How do they deliver that?

Open >www.doodleblue.com and you will see a flood of blue. No surprises there. What may surprise you is the quirky website itself and the young team running the show. The homepage is filled with cartoons, sketches and pencil drawings, giving the site a sense of buoyancy and happiness.

Creative creations

Doodleblue is a self-acclaimed Boutique Design Company, one which makes office stationery to suit your personal tastes. Whether it is “Thank you” cards or website design, business cards or letter heads, the team behind doodleblue promises to deliver high quality goods brimming with innovation.

The brother-sister duo of Atishe and Nishyta Chordia are bubbling with enthusiasm and energy. Ask them the reason behind the company’s name and the answer is characteristically young. “We serve designs or doodles out of the blue! On a slightly more philosophical note, ‘doodle’ represents creativity. Blue was just random.”

Scroll down their homepage and you can gauge the team’s personality! With openly confident statements like “We hate copy cats” and “We churn out designs like none other”, it culminates in The Doodleblue promise. The Chordia siblings promise to deliver “crunchy, crispy, tasty, pure and original doodledesigns.”

With the advantage of youth also comes the disadvantage of other commitments. Nishyta is a full-time student of Fine Arts in a city college, while Atishe just finished his under graduation at Carnegie Mellon University. Common perception is that this could double up as a speed breaker after the initial shine wears off. Doodleblue, however, seems to have skipped that part of the journey. The team is thrilled with the good reviews flowing in so far. “Creativity builds up over a period of time. The work we do is a manifestation of our team’s dedication.”

Doodleblue is the latest addition to those companies riding the digital wave. Online marketing, social media and digital design are the newest business opportunities on the block. Is this just the newest fad that will soon die out? Nishyta begs to differ. “Embracing the digital era is also going green. In our own way, we are saving nature. By embracing the eco sensibilities of the future, we are doing our bit for the world.”

Team work

To ensure sustainability and long life, first-time entrepreneurs need to dedicate a large portion of their time and effort to the cause, not taking into account the financial investment that start ups need. Atishe’s advice for first timers to get funding is simply “to deliver”. Nishyta agrees: “Unless you give 100 per cent, you give nothing. You cannot work part time on these things.”

The story of young entrepreneurs is always one of best and worst, up and down, high and low. “The best compliment we ever received was from Sonika, a tech enthusiast, who vouches for our products. The harshest criticism is often from my brother in his effort to push us harder,” Nishyta ruminates. Another best-worst situation is working as siblings. “We get to spend a lot of time together but end up treading on each other’s toes.”

As Nishyta, Atishe and their team work towards their dream of making doodleblue a household name by 2015, the duo is ready to take the world by storm.
