“My fist hungers for justice”.

*Po's stomach growls*

“Uhh, that was my fight”

The lazy, overfed, Kung Fu fighting fur ball is back in the second instalment of the “Kung Fu Panda” series. “Kaboom of Doom” is about how the Dragon Warrior and the Furious Five face the evil Shen, a white peacock with a vision to take over the whole of China, and annihilate Kung Fu from the face of the earth. During the course of the adventure, Po also finds about his own past and his parentage. How the team manages to defeat Lord Shen and his army of Wolves and save China forms the rest of the movie.

Technical perfection

Well, Jack Black makes no mistake as the clumsy panda Po. Po remains his natural self in this movie as well, definitely sending the audience into gales of laughter now and then. The Tigress (voiced by Angelina Jolie) gets extra screen space this time.

But the clear winner on grounds of character portrayal is the evil Lord Shen. If you thought Tai Lung was scary, Lord Shen is mindboggling. This character is cold, menacing and has been skilfully portrayed by Gary Oldman.

The animation, especially the flashback sequences, is top class. The technical aspects are up to the mark too, and a special mention has to be made of the music scored by Hans Zimmer and John Powell.

The film carries a variety of emotions ranging from humour, action, sentiment to a hint of love.

On the downside, the movie does not live up to the expectation. Even though it has its trademark humour, the plot seems to be off-balance.

First of all, Po seems to be losing out on a lot of action till the climax, and the plot seems to be concentrating too much on the flashback of Po and the life of Shen, so that tends to be a wee bit of a drag.

But nevertheless, this movie is a worthy entertainer. The director, Jennifer Yuh has carried the mantle of animated Kung Fu awesomeness forward, and the final scene suggests the probability of a third instalment.

Bottomline: Worth your money? Looks like it. Twice the awesomeness? Maybe not.
