Being gifted with nice, naturally curly hair is precious. There is a saying in Tamil — suruttai soru podum — people with curly hair are blessed and won’t have any difficulty feeding themselves throughout their lives.
More often, among a group of people, a woman with curly hair is easily spotted. It’s said that curly hair is gorgeous and gives a trendy look! But the problems faced by people who are thus “blessed” can never be put into words. I’m one among them. When girls with straight hair do a French plait or let their hair loose, we can’t. Of course, we try, but we just end up with a lot of stray strands of hair on the comb.
Even oiling doesn’t help much. I feel disheartened when I see college girls who leave their hair looose. Even without regular oiling, their hair remains smooth and silky.
My friends can follow any hairstyles, haircut, wash their hair any time, and easily comb it after drying. But I need to apply hair conditioner compulsorily after washing my hair and a good amount of hair lotion because curly hair is unmanageable. Add to this, the time one spends in breaking nits that regularly occur. If you have curly hair, you need to give it special care and attention. The worst case scenario is going to a hair spa and opting for straightening or smoothening or ironing as per your budget and requirements.
After putting all this effort and time on your hair, you set it right, go to class, and your friends would compliment on it — only to have it tangled again in an hour’s time!
