This incident took place near Express Avenue. I was walking to the bus stop near the mall. It was a Saturday evening and the mall was more crowded than usual. Near the entry stood a girl barely eight years old. She was holding a bunch of story books that she had to sell. Next to her stood a mother and her daughter who had come to shop.

The woman asked the little girl to keep the books aside. The girl looked confused, but the woman said, “First eat this” and handed over an ice cream she had just bought. She happily accepted it. The mother and the daughter stood by her watching her eat.

This scene touched my heart. In a time when we are more concerned about ourselves than others, it brought me joy to see such people who have time to show kindness and love for our fellow beings.
