Foray into Europe

Indian kart racer Yash Aradhya is participating in the 2016 WSK Super Master Series in Italy in the junior category. The14-year-old Bengaluru boy, a student of Bishop Cottons Boys School, was nominated for CIK-FIA Academy trophy 2015 last year, after winning the JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Max National Karting Championship in 2014. He has signed up with the Italian side, Baby Race for the WSK Super Master series.

The four rounds of the series are already underway and will continue through April and May. The first two rounds was a learning experience for Yash Aradhya, who had to cope with a wet and slippery track . But as he progresses into other rounds, he hopes to do better. For the 2016 Series, the CIK has approved the induction of more powerful OK & OKJ engines, instead of the KF engines, which was in use earlier. This season will not have self-starter engines and the karts will need to be push started (except for Mini Class).

It essentially means that if a driver were to stop midway, the race will essentially be over . The CIK front bumper faring rule has also been implementedYash is optimistic about his chances. “This will be a great opportunity for me to race with high standard engines and higher competition. The weather conditions are verydifferent,” says the youngster.
