Pamper yourself

On an unusually hot day, I was aching for some relief. My wish was granted when I was asked to step into Green Trends Spa at Banashankari. I am welcomed enthusiastically by the staff along with a chilled glass of lychee juice. This is only the beginning of the long hours of pampering that lay ahead. I enter a room located in the far corners of a plush spa.

I am first told of the benefits of lychee for the skin. Lychee — high in fibre, vitamin C and E — has exfoliating properties that helps restore dehydrated skin.

I am made to relax. A light massage, gentle scrub and cleansing later, my face is ready to experience the goodness of lychee.

As I blissfully close my eyes, ready to be transported to la-la land, the beautician applies the mask that is freezing cold. It's not uncomfortable.

It cools the skin instantly. The beautician informs that great care is taken to prepare and preserve the mask. Fresh packs are made for each customer. It's kept in ice-cold water to enhance its effects. After an hour long facial—complete with a liberal dab of moisturiser—I feel rejuvenated. I peer at myself in the mirror and I am satisfied to see that my face looks fresh.

My hands and feet feel neglected. So I am told there's a special manicure and pedicure lined up.

“Spearmint retreat for hands and feet” is what it's called. The “Mint O Kool Manicure” consists of Spearmint, a Menthol component, which has a cooling effect on the nerves and muscles, is a disinfectant and even prevents blemishes. My hands are first scrubbed, then cleansed and finally a spearmint pack is applied on them. Simultaneously, my feet are treated to a “Summer Mint Sparkle” pedicure. I feel like the Queen of Sheba with all this pampering.

Now that my face, hands and feet are sparkling with lychee and spearmint, I am given some tips to ensure that the effects of the facial, manicure and pedicure are long lasting. Green Trends is located at Banashankari second stage, opposite BDA complex.
