Just months after Nazriya Nazim’s engagement to Malayalam actor Fahad Fazil was made public, the young actor, who will be seen in Balaji Mohan’s Vaayai Moodi Pesavum along with Dulquer Salmaan, admitted that she would now like to do more Malayalam films than Tamil.

Is she unhappy with the kind of roles being offered in Tamil? “No, that’s not the reason. In fact I am grateful to the Tamil audience to have readily accepted me. I just want to do more films in the language that I am comfortable in,” she said.

When asked if her engagement meant that she would cut down on her acting assignments, she replied, “I am sure Fazil would want me to keep working.”

The actor is well-known for her vibrant screen presence. However, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum will see her play a calm and grounded character. “For some reason, Balaji Mohan has made me play a doctor, who is always calm and composed. Also, I look different in this film. I wear glasses and sport a different hairstyle, something I haven’t done so far,” she said.

Nazriya is curious about the audience response to this film. “In Raja Rani , I think the audience didn’t like it when the character I play died. I would like to do roles that would make the audience smile.”
