As we approach the Olympics, “Great Indian Olympians” by Gulu Ezekiel and K. Arumugam profiles illustrious sportspersons of the country

In the season of Olympics, Great Indian Olympians by Gulu Ezekiel and K. Arumugam has offered sports loving readers a decent collection of profiles of some of the most illustrious sportspersons the country has ever produced.

This is the third edition of the book which originally had come out before the 2004 Athens Olympics. Four years later, the authors added a few more chapters to the book, including the one on Olympic silver medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

The current edition has 22 chapters, including three new essays on the Beijing Olympics medallists – gold medal winning shooter Abhinav Bindra and bronze medallists Vijender Singh (boxing) and Sushil Kumar (wrestling). The profiles of these three athletes provide a flashback on their journey to Olympic glory as the entire nation looks forward to the London Games with plenty of hopes from the trio.

The book also contains a message from International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge and foreword by Atlanta bronze medallist tennis player Leander Paes.
