Priya Banerjee is a picture of confidence. She finally got her Bollywood break with Jazbaa for which she has already shot a portion. In Hyderabad to promote Asura, she shares her thoughts on her debut film KISS which didn’t succeed at the box office. I was really happy that I have done KISS . I am glad it opened up my path in India, just not the industry. I have done four films now in two years, people noticed me and I got work in Hindi too. I am seen as someone who is not a newcomer, people take me little more seriously. I have heard about people being in Mumbai for years and never got work.”

Even her second film Joru was a disaster and she had to play a miniscule role, and share screen space with two other actors. Priya isn't perturbed, “I was working with a well known production house for Joru ..and a good director. The song I did was appreciated and I don't see my decisions as right or wrong, I go with the flow at that point of time. If I like something I will do it. People had a lot of faith in Joru but it didn't work. I have honestly no regrets for doing a 5 minutes or 15 minutes role. People said they wished they saw me more in the film. I guess I have been here for a year and a half and now I can be choosy. I am playing the solo lead of a simple traditional girl in Asura . It is a very good story.”

In Asura she reveals that Nara Rohit plays the cop; the way he deals with things is not really good but that is how society works. She is playing his romantic interest and the story moves forward because of her so she is not just there for singing and dancing. She is also very different from the way he thinks and behaves. She adds, “I am used to Telugu, I can understand 80 to 90 percent but since I am living in Canada I guess will take some time to learn it fluently. I'm based there but now I have a place in Mumbai but I keep going back and forth. Jazbaa is Aishwarya's comeback and when I heard Sanjay Gupta's script I was floored. I play Shabana's daughter. For me being a big part of small movie in Bollywood doesn't matter, as much as small part of big movie. I didn't even think twice I just wanted to be a part of the movie. I don't want to be a part of project that comes and goes. Sanjay Gupta saw my song on Twitter, he was looking for a young cute looking girl, he already saw my videos online so I didn't have to audition for it.”
