The delicate sashaying fringed detail is definitely grabbing eye balls this season. From fringe apparels to fringe bags, accessories and even shoes, nothing seems to have escaped the fringe wave.

According to Bengaluru and Dubai-based fashion stylist Divya Maben, “Fringes are still very much in the moment and will be for a bit. It’s definitely one of my favourite trends, because it can spice up an otherwise boring outfit. In addition to that, it’s incredibly versatile. You could find a simple and chic piece to wear to the office and you can find a fringe dress that’s a lot more dramatic to wear on a night out. Both looks will give you that effortless bohemian touch.”

The fringe trend has also hit practically every retail brand. “The fringe is everywhere,” says Rashi Gupta, a 21-year-old college student. “I own a tan fringed bag, which I absolutely adore taking to college because it really stands out.”

“The fringe is fun to work with, as it can easily be incorporated into any type of material from fabrics to metals. This is why you find them on clothes as well as accessories,” says Sameeksha Saini, a 22-year-old design student. Commenting on the types of fringes, she says, “They can range from being thick and short, which aids to break the monotony of the look, to thin and long strands, which impart a very bold statement. The movement of the fabric lends it a very free-spirited, boho look.”

Fringes can be incorporated into one’s wardrobe in a number of ways. However, one needs to watch out for fashion faux-pas. “While wearing fringe, make sure you don’t wear too much of it,” cautions Divya. “To stay on trend, all you need to do is pick one piece that has some fringe detailing; it could just be your top, dress or a simple fringe bag. Another way to incorporate the trend is with tasselled jewellery. It’s definitely the more subtle way to play around with the style. Moreover, keep experimenting until you find something fringe that makes you feel boho chic.”

For newbies who want to begin experimenting, Shalini Chopra, a fashion blogger, suggests, “For those looking to slowly embrace this trend, I suggest a fringe bag or fringe shoes to get on trend. Just make it the statement piece of your outfit. Finish off your look with minimalist accessories in neutral colours like white, black, or grey, letting the fringe do the talking.”

There is something in it for everyone this season. And while the trend looks like it’s here to stay, when are you jumping onto the fringe bandwagon?
