The monsoon will soon be upon us and so will the wedding season. Weavers Village, a sister concern of C.P. Rajendran and sons, Karalkada, has launched its new Autumn-Winter collection, which has been inspired by the monsoon season.

“We attended a couple of weddings during the rains and found that although people enjoyed the respite from the heat, they found dressing up for weddings during the rains a pain as they found their garments too difficult to handle,” say Sobha Ashwin and Sreeremya Sambath of Weavers Village.

The duo then worked on designs that were practical for the rains whilst celebrating the colours of the monsoon.

“The monsoon is a period of efflorescence – the flora in nature is green and blooming. We thus used the colours of the rains such as muted blues, greens and earthy tones for our collection,” says Sreeremya.

As Anarkalis are the toast of the season, these flared tops with flattering silhouettes and rich zari work are paired with three fourth-styled pyjamas; perfect for wading through those puddles.

Those who prefer a more casual and comfy look, can team flared brocaded ponchos with shorts or skirts.

However, if a traditional and ethnic look is your cup of tea, the dhavani collection with its rainbow colours and the saris with coloured thread designs in thick zari borders and lotus motifs are bound to appeal.

For men, embroidered kurtas and colourful jackets look stylish when worn with a border designed dhoti. Handcrafted Kolapuri chappals complete the look.

From Weaver Village’s newly launched sister concern Bodha, comes a selection of Ayurveda clothing for children between the ages of two and 12.
