Embellished Clutch 2, DIY fashion!

Embellished Clutch 2, DIY fashion!

With the motto ‘Don’t just look for treasures in stores, create it’ DIY (do it yourself) fashion is becoming mainstream. Creative fashionistas are wielding their magic wand to turn something old into something chic and refreshing. We all want to move away from the cookie-cutter ensembles bought off the shelf. DIY fashion bloggers keep up with fashion trends and repurpose old clothes and accessories.

Rinchen De, blogger of HIGH on DIY says, “It's more than just following a fashion trend; it’s putting your own spin on those trends and DIY is the best way to do that. You can get as creative as you like in expressing your personal style.”

Dior-inspired necklace? Fringe bags? Embellished jackets? Studded sandals? These bloggers do it all with their simple DIY projects and easy-to-follow tutorials and photo-illustrated tips. “These blogs are now looked up to for inspiration by the fashion enthusiasts when it comes to creating an affordable trend,” adds Manvi Gandotra, a fashion designer and blogger (Styleinked.com).

Blogger Geneva Vanderzeil thinks DIY fashion is an amazing form of self-expression. “People want to lend a unique touch to their clothes and accessories.” And it is becoming easy for them to find interesting how-to projects in blogs (chicsteals, lovemeagan, honestlywtf, ispydiy, glitternglue and stripesandsequins), YouTube and Pinterest. Hence, more people are becoming a part of the DIY movement.

So it’s time to re-interpret fashion in your own way.

Supplies needed

Rhinestones, Glue, A skewer for application, A box clutch

Steps

Step1. Apply some glue on a piece of paper and then use the skewer to put a layer of glue onto the back of the big central rhinestone. Step 2. You can base the design on the big metallic stone. Place it vertical or horizontal. Step 3. Add your stones in patterns all the way around, making sure to press them down securely so that they don’t fall off when you’re using it. Leave it to dry overnight. And your jazzed-up new friend is all ready. Get crazy with designs. The fun lies in experimenting with patterns but it’s better to place your designs before you stick the glue.

This DIY embellished clutch by Geneva Vanderzeil can be a perfect companion for an evening out. Have an old box clutch lying around? You could also find one in any store close by.
