‘Eka', in Oberon Mall, is a new address for those looking for designer wear, accessories, particularly a very good collection of terracotta jewellery. Tucked in between two stores on the third floor, it is easy to miss the store despite a prominent board.
The boutique's décor spells ethnic and so does most of the merchandise. Designer silk saris (the ubiquitous party wear sari included), block print saris, Maheshwari, Bandhini, crepe, georgette…almost every kind of sari is available. We are not talking so much about numbers but variety. If you are looking for that perfect party wear salwar-kurta set chances are that you might find one that suits your fancy. If work-wear or semi-formal kurtis are your pick, there are those too. You prefer salwar-kurta materials? There are many kinds all for you to pick from, there are semi-tailored salwar-kurta sets too. There are other co-ordinates such as stoles, duppattas, cholis etc. The cholis are ‘oomphy' (in a very decent way) numbers, these are ready-to-wear which can be altered to size.
The USP of the store is the collection of terracotta jewellery. No, no these are not the usual kind that we have seen at numerous ‘exhibitions'. The pieces, clearly each has been chosen with a lot of care, spell ethnic chic. There are sets and individual pieces of jewellery, earrings (jhumkaas) actually.
All good things come at a price (sometimes hefty), the prices of the jewellery start at around Rs. 500. Since the prices of gold seem to be defying gravity and there is an overdose of the exact-match type costume jewellery these are a wonderful earthy option.
There is a good collection of silver jewellery too.
