There are art galleries galore in Puducherry, each offering something special for amateurs and connoisseurs alike. Here are some exhibitions that are showcasing some interesting paintings.

Stroke of inspiration

At Maison Perumal, Perumal Koil Street, Till May end, 8 a.m. onwards

Kerala-born artist Prasanna Gressilon’s various inspirations come alive in ‘Dream and Life’, a solo exhibition. View the charcoal and acrylic works of the Puducherry-based artist, who lived and worked in Paris, being a student of the School of Visual Arts, Paris. Her love for beauty, nature, her experiences and reflections of life colour her art. Prasanna who also worked as a journalist is influenced by her association with writer Kamala Das and French feminist writer Hélène Cixous.

In search of balance

At Arka, Auroville, May 17 and 18, 9 a.m.

Find inner balance and peace by creating harmony on paper at the mandala workshop. Carlo Sello, an expert in Mandala whose exhibition is on at Kalakendra, Gallery Square Circle, will conduct the workshop. Mandalas are circular representations riddled with symbolism that develop outward from the centre.

From Santiniketan, with love

Till June1 , No. 17, Advocate Chinna Tambi street, Kuruchikuppam, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Puducherry based artist and founder of TASMAI art gallery, Kirti Chandak, goes back to where it all began for her in this solo exhibition. ‘Works from Santiniketan Days’is Kirti’s recollection of the place that served as an initiation into art. Santiniketan, created by Rabindranath Tagore provided an ambience for intimate study of nature and rural life that inspired the artist’s work. A portofolio and t- shirts based on the previous art show ‘Maa’, will be released this Sunday. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
