After his recent Kayal, a love story set in the backdrop of the December 2004 Tsunami, director Prabhu Solomon has signed up Dhanush for his next movie.

The director, known for hits such as Mynaa and Kumki, has teamed up with Sathya Jyothi Films for this movie that is said to be an action entertainer. It will be produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan.

Hopes are riding high on this project that brings together a National Award-winning actor and a director known for his slice-of-life movies that have brought several actors to the limelight.

Dhanush has a packed 2015, with two back-to-back releases as an actor — Balki’s Shamitabh in Hindi this week and K.V. Anand’s Anegan in Tamil on February 13. He’s also working on Balaji Mohan’s Maari. His production, Kaaki Sattai, is also due for a February release.

Prabhu and composer D. Imman, who have created memorable numbers in the past, team up again for this project. The heroine and the remaining cast are yet be finalised, said a release from the film’s publicist.

Of late, Prabhu Solomon has made movies with newcomers rather than stars. What prompted him to sign up Dhanush? “I always go by the demands of the script. I try to be honest while casting. This film needed Dhanush. Avara naan ennoda mannin maindhana paarkaraen. (I see him as a son of the soil). Plus, he’s a great performer. The script will showcase another side of the actor in him.”

The director is currently in pre-production mode. “Dhanush has a packed schedule till Maari. I also need that time. Once again, I’m going to travel with the seasons and shoot depending on climatic conditions. The film requires a schedule in the North too. I’m just going to go with the flow.”
