Tucked away in the budding IT corridor of our Nawabi city is a new food station. What's going to be Chapatto's claim to fame? Ola Amigos, meet the Indian burrito. A little bit of Mexican with an Indian tadka.
The traditional nachos and chips get a new twist with papads instead of nachos! Jazz the lijjat with the tanginess of finely diced tomatoes and the zing of lime.
The Indianised Mexican is great for all those who want to try new things but gradually, unwilling to totally let go of their mom's flavours. Chapattos was conceptualised to be a self-service joint which gives quick eating and healthy eating a whole new meaning. All the Mexican dishes have been Indianised with simple changes; instead of the traditional tortillas; they make use of wheat chappatis. Chappatis mixed with burrito filling, hence Chappato.
The ambience is fresh; the restaurant is lined with celebratory Mexican graphics, sombrero sporting jalapeños and peppers, et al. The entire feel is young , peppy and urbane.
Those looking to grab a quick bite can be seated at the long bar table sort of a set-up with high chairs. Dominated largely by an office crowd, the place is pretty packed during lunch hours.
You could opt for the traditional Chapatto, a wrap including rice, beans, kebab, salsas and veggies with a little bit of sour cream to top it off, or go for its variant, the Fajita chapatto with sautéed onions and capsicums. If you're not really in the mood for a wrap, treat yourself to taco shells with beans and kebabs to go with in either a soft shell of crispy taco.
Whet your appetite with a Bowlo, its rice, Mexican beans and sautéed kebabs laced with freshly cut tomatoes and with a heavy dose of tangy salsas that tingle your taste buds. In a lovely mix of flavours, the bowlo really stands out as the winner, it works up a melange of different flavours and before you know it you'll catch yourself asking for more.
If you're really health conscious, opt for the salad, it's the goodness of bowlo without the rice.
Chapatto also has a make-your-own-order going on. This lets you choose your fillings, chutneys and sauces.
Start by choosing the base from rice or wheat tortilla and then decide the fillings, choose between a chicken tikka or murgh malai. If you're in the mood for sea-food choose between prawns and fish tikkas or stick with a mutton sheek.
Vegetarians can choose from among tandoori gobi , paneer tikka or hara bhara kebab and add a mint chutney for mild taste or home-made sour cream.
This is not all; lend your mouth a sweet respite with their Flan, a sweet custard dessert or their innovative ice-cream fruit salsa which is topped with chilli and ginger .
Desi chimchanga and cheese tortillas are going to be up for grabs soon.
