Trusting your GPS implicitly can lead to some comic relief, as this reporter found out. She had to go to a village near Villupuram and it seemed to show the right way until she found herself in the middle of a field, when the GPS asked her to move forward by 100 m. Wondering where it would take her, she walked the distance only to find herself facing a grazing cow. So much for technology.
Subjected to it
At an interview at a restaurant, the subject spoke at length about his achievements. He spoke quite a bit… the kebabs couldn’t stop him, the sherbet couldn’t stop him, at one point, a fire alarm went off at the restaurant and even that couldn’t stop him. The reporter panicked and picked up her hand bag to leave but he continued, “Madam I forgot one more point...” Luckily, the alarm was just a false one.
Pose and pause
It was supposed to be an interview with a big celebrity — the kind that journalists usually dream of. Still unable to believe that I had managed to wear down the defences of a particular celebrity and had cornered him into giving me an interview, I set off for the meeting which was to last just five minutes. I was welcomed with a warm smile by the man himself. I chose to record the conversation on my mobile as taking down notes could slow me down. The interview began and I kept shooting questions one after the other, secretly pleased with myself. A few minutes later I, content with the way the interview had gone, left the meeting place. I reached office and looked at my phone to see how many minutes of recorded conversation I had on it. It showed a dismal 0:25 seconds. Apparently, I had paused the recording process without even realising it.
