90 p.c. Americans want texting banned in cars

A staggering 90 per cent of Americans want writing text messages while driving to be banned, according to a poll. The CBS News/ New York Times survey quizzed 1,042 adults across the country, and found that only 8 per cent had no problems against texting while behind the wheels.

As many as 83 per cent were opposed to the practice, while 16 per cent of respondents between 18 and 29 were more tolerant, reports CBS News.

Ninety-four per cent of those over the age of 45 said that texting should be outlawed. And men and women were found to be more or less on the same page, with 88 per cent men and 92 per cent women thinking that it should be made illegal.
