Dal bhaati is a dish rich in protein. It is a family favourite.

What you need

Wheat flour – 4 cups

Semolina (rava) – 11/2 cups

Cumin seeds – 2 tbsp

Ghee – 9 tbsp

Green gram (moong dal), boiled – 2 cups

Garlic flakes - 3

Green chillies - 3

Red chilli powder – 1tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Tomato, chopped - 1

Oil – as required

Salt – to paste

Water – as required

Cooking instructions

For the baati

Make a dough of flour, semolina, salt, ghee and water.

Prepare small balls from the dough. Roast these balls till it turns brown.

For the dal

Heat the oil add cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic flakes, red chilli powder, garam masala and chopped tomato. Stir well.

Add the boiled dal and pour four cups of water and allow to boil for 10 minutes.

Serve dal baati hot with ghee.
