Coco Jaunt 1728 has an entire section of the menu dedicated to French fries; they offer six kinds with corresponding dips. The peri peri fries are just the right amount of spicy, as are the Mexican fries with their chipotle and jalapeno heat. The cheese and onion fries have a slight tang provided by the onion zesty dip. The most distinctive is the Mediterranean-inspired olives and herb fries; it's not too strong, and even if you're not a fan of olives, you might enjoy its layered flavours. Chicken aficionados must try the masala fries, topped with a delicious minced chicken masala and cheese. The vegetarian version comes with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions, and need we say, more cheese?

Ashvita Nirvana
This cosy eatery nestled near the beach in Besant Nagar has quite a rad option for experimenters – sweet potato fries. While French fries are traditionally known to be salty, these are a sweeter variety. Thicker and darker than the average fries, this version is softer and might take some getting used to. Go for it when you’re feeling adventurous.
