LAUNCH Audio release of 'Ilaingyan'

When it's a writer's (M. Karunanidhi) 75th film and a director's (Suresh Krissna) 50th, it is significant for not just these two, but for all those involved. And so, not surprisingly, the entire cast and crew of “Ilaingyan” was present for its recent audio launch.

The lead is played by Pa. Vijay, Ramya Nambesan and Meera Jasmine. The cast includes Kushboo, Vadivelu, Namitha, Suman and Delhi Ganesh.

Suresh Krissna, obviously delighted that his 50th film has been penned by none other than M. Karunanidhi, says: “What more can a filmmaker will ask for?”

Produced by S. Martin, the film's music has been scored by Vidyasagar, and the lyrics are by Pa. Vijay.

There are five songs in the album. ‘Mazhaiyil' sung by Karthik and Anvesha is enchanting. ‘Imaithoothane' is sung by Chinmayi while ‘Neeyaa' has been sung beautifully by Tippu. Karthik and Shreya Ghosal have given a melodious number in ‘Oru Nila'. Hariharan impresses in ‘Thozha', a thought-provoking piece.

Veppam

A joint venture by Photon Kathaas, R.S. Infotainment and Madan Production,“Veppam” is presented by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The film is directed by Anjana and produced by Madan, Kumar, Jayaraman, Venkat and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The cast includes Nani, Nithya Menon, Karthik Kumar, Bindu Madhavi, Muthukumar and Pradeep.

The music is scored by Joshua Sridhar, and the lyrics are written by Na. Muthukumar.

Says Anjana: “The film, including the song sequences, was shot in 46 days. We did not use sets; we shot in Chennai, particularly in crowded spots such as the Luz market and Pondy Bazaar.” The audio of the film was recently released by Suhasini Mani Ratnam.

There are seven songs in the album, and all are peppy numbers.

The best is ‘Kaatril Eeram' sung by Karthik and Sricharan. Clinton and Shweta have given a lively number in ‘Oru Devadai'. ‘Mazhai Varum' is sung by Suzanne, and has a repeat by Naresh. However, it's Suzanne who scores. ‘Minnala' sung by Benny sparkles with energy. ‘Raani Naan' is a modern take on kuthu paatu , delivered impressively by Apoorva. Josh and Naresh do justice to the title song.

Karuthakannan c/o Rekla Race

Roshan Films International presents “Karuthakannan c/o Rekla Race”, whose audio was launched recently.

Written and directed by A. Senthil Anandan, an associate of Bharathiraja, the film's cast includes producer Rishi Raj, Subash, Soundarya and Stalin.

The film's music is by S.R.K. Sundar while the lyrics have been penned by ‘Thendral' Senthil. Says the director: “One of the highlights of the film is the 10-minute sequence of the rekla race.”

There are five songs in the album. ‘Therkachi Seemaiyile' sung by Anandhu and ‘Themmaangu Pattedukka' sung by Anand and Hema make a mark. ‘Kanniponnu Manasukkulle' has two versions — one sung by Usharaj and another by Prabhakar. Amrutha has rendered the pleasant ‘Chinna Pattukattum'.
