Visit to the ostrich farm

July 09, 2012 05:38 pm | Updated 05:38 pm IST

Last week we got into the car and drove to an Ostrich Farm in Barka. But we couldn’t find the place. So, we stopped at a car service centre and they gave us directions. On reaching the farm we paid an entrance fee and the ticket seller showed me an Ostrich egg. It was such an enormous egg. I held it in my hand and took a snap. We headed out to see the ostriches. Our driver saw some people getting down to take photos near a fence. Guess what was on the other side of the fence? Of course, an ostrich — double my height and size.

We saw colourful peacocks, pigeons, chickens and the most wonderful thing I have ever seen — gigantic ostriches. My father went closer to the fence to take some pictures and he was taken aback when they came running at high speed to eat the camera in his hand. Finally he managed to take some amazing pictures. We saw horses galloping towards us. In haste my grandma, mom and I jumped into the car. We had snacks — fruit cocktail, crispy homemade chips and my favourite Kikat. It was a pleasant end to an adventurous evening.

This was the most memorable weekend for me till date. I wish to see my dear friends at the farm soon.
