Even though it was a tiring trip, I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I woke up at 6.30 a.m., got dressed and packed my bag and left for school. I reached my school at 7.10 a.m. We had a short prayer and then boarded our bus. It was a trip to National Agro Foundation (NAF) Research and Development Centre in Taramani and NAF Centre for Rural Development in Illedu village. It was trip for Stds. VII, VIII and IX. We were totally 37 of us with five teachers. We reached NAF Research and Development Centre in Taramani by 8.05 a.m. We saw different types of soil, equipment for testing the purity of soil and tissue culture of plant tissue. We left by 9.10 a.m. and came back to school to load the water can and snacks. We left school by 9.30 a.m. and reached NAF CFRD by noon. We drank buttermilk and a sweet jaggery drink. We were taken to another room and shown a slide of their programme. Then we were shown the different equipment for ploughing and so on. We saw Chissel plougher, power weeder and so on. After lunch, we played games – pot breaking, kabadi, dart, running race, sack fighting and the game where they will tie a food item to a string and raise to a height and the person has to keep his hand at the back and try to reach the food item. Then, we went for a field trip and a bullock ride. They gave us sundal and tea for refreshment. They showed us a slide on the pictures they had shot during the programme.
