Students of Sri Venkateswara Children's High School paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, on Jan 30. An “all religions prayer” was conducted. Dressed as the Mahatma, students assembled at Sri Thyagaraja Mandapam in Tirupati, where the school management got a replica of the “Raj Ghat” installed to let the public pay their tributes.

Prashanth English Medium High School celebrated its 28th annual day. P. Ramachandra Reddy, General Manager of Sri City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and K. Lakshmana Rao, Senior Branch Manager of Bank of Baroda spoke. Correspondent V. Chandrasekhar Reddy announced the launch of a model school in the city soon. Director Prashanth Vemuru welcomed the participants. A cultural programme followed.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan observed the Republic Day in its campus in Tirupati. V. Sivakumar, a professor of nephrology from Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS University) was the chief guest. Bhavan's honorary Director N.Satyanarayana Raju recalled the role of Bhavan's founder K.M. Munshi as a member of the panel to draft the constitution, headed by B.R. Ambedkar. The tiny tots came dressed as national leaders and freedom fighters.
