Often we come across people who are very good with words and sound convincing. The idiom, to have the gift of the gab , basically means to have the ability to speak with eloquence and fluency.

Smooth talker

People who have the gift of the gab are smooth in their speech and can persuade others to do what they want. Thus the hawker on the streets can talk to the passers by to buy his products, as he has the gift of the gab . The boss who has the gift of the gab can motivate his team to work and bring out good results. The teacher who has the gift of the gab can handle all the questions put forth by her notorious pupils, most effectively.

Do any of your friends have the gift of the gab and the ability to convince you to do things their way? Watch out when you chit chat with them!
