Scrat is always in a hurry and has no time to stop or look around. He is trying to bury an acorn when he finds himself in a spaceship travelling to space! Unable to control or steer, he sparks off a series of explosions between planets, realigns the stars and galaxies and gets caught in this maze.

His accidental catapult into the universe and the unfortunate series of cosmic events impacts Earth. “Ice Age: Collision Course”, is deeply rooted in the mythology of the original and first film of the franchise— “Ice Age”.

Remember this was the first film in the series, “Ice Age” where the herd passes through a kind of ice ‘museum’ where we see prehistoric fish, dinosaur, the evolution of Sid, and flying saucer? In this series, the flying saucer is revisited.

Meet Scrat in a new avatar as he propels the story. He ushered in the Ice Age, started the Meltdown, unleashed the Lost World of the Dinosaurs into the Ice Age, started the separation of the continents —and now, he has triggered a series of cosmic disasters that threaten the world. With the space shuttle creating paths and routes and Scrat playing pinball with the planets, it is ‘Scrat-aclysm’, sending the mother of all asteroids hurtling toward Earth.

Again, Scrat’s misadventures have earth-shattering consequences for our sub-zero heroes. At the same time, there are earth-shaking events of an entirely different nature playing out for the gang.

What looks like an unstoppable meteor or asteroid shower is engulfing parts of the earth in flames, and the animals are on the run. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their homes and embark on a journey full of comedy, adventure, travel and encounters. There are also obstacles to overcome.

Get ready to join your favourite characters one last time as the Ice age comes to an end making way for something new…

Meet and greet

Scrat: A prehistoric squirrel whose sole purpose in life is to bury an elusive acorn, which always, always triggers calamitous events.

Sid: A well-meaning sloth, whose over-the-top antics produce disastrous results, making him the comic. But no matter how frustrated Manny and the gang get with him, it is his endearing qualities help him remain in the herd.

Manny: Once a lonely high-plain drifter, Manny the mammoth is now a family guy who, underneath a tough exterior, is a warm and fuzzy patriarch and friend.

Diego: A sabre-toothed tough guy, with a lot of heart. He’s changed a lot since joining the herd, but he’s never lost his edge.

Ellie: The mammoth who considers herself part possum. Ellie is sparkling with quirky personality and her loving nature makes her a perfect match for Manny. While Manny is the brawny leader of the herd, Ellie is the heart.

Peaches: Ellie and Manny’s teenage mammoth daughter who takes after both her parents. She’s tough like her dad, but spirited and independent like her mom, and she always puts family first.

Did you know?

Sid speaks without a lisp for the first time in one of the scenes.

Ice age Collision Course is the final film of the franchise.

Buck returns in a starring role after being a mere cameo in the last film.

Though Scrat was designed as a fictional animal, in 2009, scientists in Argentina unearthed the remains of a small, extinct mammal resembling a shrew with long fangs. This animal was given the scientific name Cronopio Dentiacutus, in tribute to Scrat.

All the actors were encouraged to improvise as much as possible to help keep the animation spontaneous.

The responsibility for animating Sid’s snowboard sequence was given to animators who went snowboarding in real life.
