Mahasivaratri was celebrated with devotional fervour at the Isha Yoga Centre, at the foothills of the Velliangiri mountains, Coimbatore.

Over thousands of devotees from various parts of the metropolis and the neighbourhood converged there to participate in the exuberant night-long satsangh with Jaggi Vasudev.

Grand fete

Preceding the grand fete was the panchabhuta aradhana by the spiritual guru.

The venue, flooded with aspirants from far and near, reverberated with sacred chanting by the brahmacharis of the ashram.

A live performance of music and bhajans, Drupad music, by Wasifuddin Dagar set the tone for the meditative sessions. Jaggi Vasudev's peroration on the difference between Adhiyogi and Dhyanalingam and the connection between Duality and Oneness, followed by a guided meditation session was well taken.

Spectacular musical performance by Kailash Kher and Hariharan-Leslie Lewis, and the sounds of Isha added jazz to the dazzling event. At the stroke of 12, the huge concourse of devotees was initiated into the sacred mahamantra meditation.

Colourful stalls were put up displaying handicrafts, medicines and art objects.

The entire programme was telecast live on Aastha, Polimer and Jaya TV networks.
