Chennai-based vocalist Bhamidipati Lalita Madhav enchanted music lovers through her concert at Kalabharati Visakhapatnam. Gifted with a honeyed voice and deeply rooted in classicism, she rendered the chosen pieces with passion. With an elegant stage presence, she began with Behag varnam and what followed was truly an aural treat in classicism.

Appealing compositions

With every bit falling in right place and in right sequence, it showcased her imaginative artistry. While her raga essays were appealing, deft were her improvisations. With an in-depth grasp of both musical and lyrical nuances of the composition being sung, she unveiled the varied facets of the chosen compositions much to the delight of rasikas .

Her delineation of raga Mohana for Evarura ninuvina unfolded in its myriad hues of melody. She traversed the trajectory of chosen octave scaling the heights of raga letting its charms permeate testified her cascading manodharma in its entire vividness.

She chose raga Todi as the mainstay of the session for Daasaradhi nee runamu deerpa naa tarama' ofThygaraja. Embroidered with elaborate raga essay it glistened in its myriad charms. She structured it in phases shaping it into grand edifice of raga Swaroopam. Fluent neravu for the line Bodhinichina Thygaraja karaarchita' brought out its devotional import in all its exuberance, while nifty assembling of kalpana swaras was reflective of her erudition.

Her rendition of Teliyaleru Rama of Thygaraja in raga Dhenuka found favour with the audience for its presentation. Avadharu Raghupate of Annamayya in raga Khamaz, Ramabhadra in Sankarabharanam besides a Govinda Gokula , a tarangam of sage Narayanatheertha delighted the music lovers. She capped the session with a Tillana of Swathi Tirunal in raga Dhanasri.

M. Satyanarayana's violin offered pleasant sketches of glowing musical grace particular for the ragas Mohana and Todi. BVS Prasad on mridangam and KV Ramakrishna on ghatam made it livelier through their remarkable dexterity. Visakha Music Academy in concert with Nada Sudha Tarangini of Sangeetha Kala Nidhi Nedunuri Krishna Murthy featured it in the inaugural session of its three-day celebration of Srirama Navami.
