Musical extravaganza

‘Sankaram 2015’, a musical event featuring musicians such as Vikku Vinayakaram, Kadri Gopalnath, George Brooks, Taufiq Qureshi and V. Selvaganesh will take place on January 25, 7 p.m., at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Hall, Chetpet.

The event has been organised in aid of charity towards Sankara Eye Institute, Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust, Coimbatore, which is dedicated to serve people in rural areas.

The concert will have musicians Kadri Gopalnath and George Brooks performing together for the first time.

The first segment of the show features a Carnatic concert by Kadri Gopalnath followed by a percussion solo by Vikku Vinayakaram. This will be followed by George Brooks who will play the Western Classical genre on the saxophone. He will be joined by V. Selvaganesh on the ganjira, Mahesh Vinayakaram on the vocals, V. Uma Shankar on the ghatam and Taufiq Qureshi on the percussions.

The finale will feature a musical dialogue between classical and Western styles of the saxophone between Kadri Gopalnath and George Brooks.
