It was a treat for lovers of classic songs from old Hindi films. ‘Rasikapriya' a new cultural association with Manda Krishnamohan as its secretary, presented its second programme. The programme titled ‘Sada Bahar Nagmey' staged at Gokaraju Laila Gangaraju Kala Vedika treated the audience with nearly thirty evergreen hit songs from old Hini movies rendered flawlessly by three experienced singers Rehman, T.V.Subramanyam and Satyavani.
The songs were selected from the movies Shajahan, Madhumathi, Aradhana, Pakeezah Pakija', Milan, Lal Pathar, Yadon ki baraat, Waqkt', Sharmeelee `Sharmila', Anmol Mothi, Bobby and several other movies.
The melodious and soulful songs rendered by the three singers brought back memories to the listeners, particularly those who are fans of Saigal, Md. Rafi, Talat Mehmood, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar and Shailendra Singh.
Some of the most impressive renditions were, Jo bat thujh me hain of Rafi (T. V. Subramanyam), Aja rey pardesi of Lata (Satyavani), Chandan Sabadan of Mukesh (T. V. Subramanyam), Ee meri johar jabi (Rehman) Sawan ka mahina of Mukesh and Lata (Subramanyam and Satyavani) and Main shayar to nahin' of Shailendra Singh (Rehman). Good orchestral support conducted by Davuluri Veerabhadra Rao gave colour to the two-and-half-hour treat.
