Advanced Diploma in Music

Admissions for the Advanced Diploma in Carnatic music (Vocal), instituted by The Music Academy, are open. The duration of the diploma is three years with two semesters every year. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Applicants, who have a minimum educational qualification of

+2 (successfully completed) and are aged above 18 years may take up the course. They should be able to sing varnams and kritis with knowledge of Manodharma Sangita. Those interested may send their bio-data with full details about their musical training. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview by the Academic Council. Selected candidates will be intimated. The decision of the Academic council will be final and binding.

Number of seats available is 10. The last date for receiving application is June 22 and the classes for this year will commence on July 22. Faculty: R. Swami Haridhos Giri School of Music, run by Narada Gana Sabha, headed by vidwan P.S. Narayanaswamy with the teaching faculty of Prof. (Dr.) R.S. Jayalakshmi and vidwan C.R. Vaidyanathan, invites applications from interested students, from the age group of 15 to 25, for its advanced course in Carnatic vocal music, for the academic year 2013-14. Applicants should have a minimum of three years training from a guru.

Application forms may be obtained from the Sabha office, on or before May 25. Classes will be conducted twice a week and the duration is one and a half hour. Students will be selected after an audition, the date for which will be informed later. The annual fee of Rs.3000/- is payable at the beginning of the course.
