The 112 music festival of Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha will be inaugurated on December 15 at Vidya Bharathi, 55 Bheema Sena Garden Road, Mylapore, by Sri Tirdandi Srimannarayana Ramnauja Chinna Jeeyar. He will confer the title, ‘Sangeetha Kalasarathy,’ on P. Unnikrishnan. This award caries a cash prize of Rs 1lakh (endowment created by P. Vijayakumar Reddy and Preetha Reddy) and a gold medal. The Palghat Mani Iyer Centenary Award will be presented to mridangam legend Dr. T.K. Murthy (endowment by Nithyashree Mahadevan ) and Dr. MLV Award will be presented to Sriranjani Santhanagopalan. (endowment by Sudha Raghunathan). Dr. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti Presides over the function.
Eminent musician and musicologist Suguna Purushothaman will be conferred ‘Sangeetha Kala Ratna’ at 10 a.m. on December 23.
The 19-day series will showcase 100 artists and include lecture-demonstration sessions (8.30 a.m.).
