The 336th Jayanti of Narayana Tirtha Swamigal and the silver jubilee of Thirupoonthuruthy Narayana Tirtha Swamigal Trust will be held on July 10 and 11 at Narada Gana Sabha.

The celebrations will be inaugurated by N. Murali, chairman of the Music Academy and senior managing director of The Hindu , at 9 a.m. on July 10.

The agenda includes concerts, lec-dems and namasankirtanam. In the morning session,a multimedia presentation about the Trust will be presented followed by discussions on ‘Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini' by Vijayawada T. S. Ramachandra Rao, B. Madhavan, Kakinada V. Krishna Rao and Dr. Sudha Seshayyan. R. Seshasayee, executive-chairman, Ashok Leyland, is the guest of honour.

In the afternoon session, there will be lec-dems by Chitra Visveswaran, Revati Ramachandran, Parvati Ravi Ghantasala and Nandini Ramani. A Tarangam concert by P. Unnikrishnan in the evening will be followed by a dance presentation by Ambika Kameswaran and her troupe. Gurukulam Original Boys Co., led by N. Murthy, will present a play on Tirtha.

On July 11, 5 p.m., namasankirtanam by Udayalur Kalyanaraman and party will be followed by a talk on Narayana Tirtha's ‘Krishna Anubhava' by N. Ramakrishnachar. At 7 p.m., Dr. R. K. Srikantan will present a Tarangam recital. N. Kamakoti, CEO and managing director of City Union Bank,is the guest of honour.

It is silver jubilee year for the Thirupoonthuruthy Sri Narayana Tirtha Trust, which organises aradhana at the Brindavanam of the saint in Thirupoonthuruthy, every year. At the same venue, Gokulashtami festival is also held. The Jayanti of Narayana Tirtha is celebrated in Chennai and Kaza village in Andhra Pradesh, where he was born.

For the past 14 years, the Trust has been organising Namasankirtana Music Fest, to encourage up-and-coming musicians to render Tarangam music. The Trust has published select stanzas of ‘Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini' with notations by Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. Three Taranga Vidhyasalas are being run by the Trust, two in Thanjavur and one in Chennai. A Namasankirtana Mani Mandapam and dining hall have been constructed at Thirupoonthuruthy. Tthese activities are financially supported by contributions from devotees, friends and philanthropists.
