The jeernodharana ashtabandhana mahakumbabishekam of Somanadhanmadam, at Sri Aksharavalli Samedha Srividyapatiswarar temple, 12, Puththur Village, Arani Circle, Tiruvannamalai district, will take place on July 8 , from 7 to 8 a.m. Arunagirinathar, who hailed from Tiruvannamalai, has sung in praise of Puththur village in Thiruppugazh.

The story goes like this Somanatha jeer, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Arunachaleswarar of Thiruvannamalai, lived in Puththur village. He also worshipped Lord Muruga and built a shrine in Somanathanmadam in the heart of Puththur.

Inscriptions point out that over 600 years ago, Kumara Kambanna Udaiyar, son of Veerapokkanna Udaiyar, who was ruling this area, gave away this village as gift and also mentioned that the temple be administered by Somanatha jeer and his descendants. Those with speech impairment offer worship to Lord Vidyapatiswarar for relief.
