The 265th aradhana of Sri Narayana Tirtha was held at his Jeeva Samadhi Brindavanam, Tirupoonthuruthy, from March 10 to 12.
D.S.L. Prasad, executive director, Indian Oil Corporation, while presiding over the inaugural function, spoke of the sustained popularity of ‘Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini’ in Andhra Pradesh.
S. Balasubramanian, CEO and managing director, City Union Bank, Kumbakonam, who formally inaugurated the celebrations, talked about the long-standing association of the Bank with Sri Narayana Tirtha Swamigal Trust.
Cultural events
Prema Rangarajan, T.M. Krishna and Sangeetha Sivakumar rendered gitams from Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini. N. Rom….machar spoke in Sanskrit and Tamil on the greatness of Saint Narayana Tirtha and the depth of his Krishna bhakti.
On the second day students from Thirukattupali Sri Sivaswami Bala Vidyalaya Matriculation Schools, and Taranga Vidyasalas in Thanjavur rendered gitams from Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini.
On the concluding day of the aradhana Vanchinatha Bhagavatar performed unchavriti in Thirupoonthuruthy village. Womenfolk carried pots of milk to perform abishekam to the Saint.
Recognition for service
Thirupoonthuruthy Sri Narayana Tirtha aradhana committee honoured N.V. Subramaniam of Saraswati Vaggeyakara Trust, R. Krishnaswami, secretary, Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai, and V. Vaidyanathan, chairman, Sankara Netralaya, Chennai, with the ‘Narayan Tirtha Seva Nirata’ title for their dedication to Tirtha. Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao, secretary, Music Academy, presented the title. A. Ramji, patron of the Trust, detailed the valuable contribution of each of the recipients of the honour. S. Pichaimuthu Raja, a local student who has been doing yeomen service for a number of years was also honoured with this award.
In the concluding session, harikatha on ‘Rukmini Kalyanam’ was presented by Kamala Murthy. Vocal concerts by V. Sankaranarayanan and Mambalam Sisters took place on the occasion. The event concluded with Anjaneya utsavam conducted by A.V. Rajasimma Bhagavatar.
