Work related to renovation is on at Sri Sundarambal sameda Sri Soliswarar temple in Kavanthandalam, Kanchipuram district. Consecration is fixed for June 12, 6.30-8.30 a.m. Legend has it that the lingam was brought from Kailash by sage Kashyap and established in the village. Kavanthandalam is 20 km south-east of Kanchipuram, on the banks of River Cheyyar.

The deity is worshipped for progeny and prosperity. The temple is ideal to perform rituals for ancestors ( pitru ), it is said.

On the same day, June 12, renovation begins at a dilapidated temple on the banks of the Cheyyar. A devotee had preserved the ashes of his deceased father to be scattered in the Ganga flowing in Varanasi. The ash had turned fragrant mullai , and the devotee had darshan of Kasi Visalakshi, Viswanatha and Annaporani, who are the main deities at this temple.
