F or their survival and sustenance, art forms need a diverse ecosystem. In this ecosystem, venues play a central role. They are the crucial link between the artist and the audience, which, if severed, can damage an art form irrevocably.

Although Delhi is home to artists of various persuasions, it does not have enough homes for their art. Dancers often have to wait for long spells of time before an auditorium becomes available for bookings, while theatre practitioners have very few spaces where they can perfect their craft before presenting it. The case of lesser mainstream forms is even more precarious. Lack of venues has led magic shows to practically disappear from the main city. As for the lesser known spoken word, its voice is still faint to say the least.
