The family members, disciples and admirers of much respected Natyacharya late Yellajosyula Ramakrishna organised a function under the banner of Sri Kanadurga Nritya Mandali founded a few years ago by Ramakrishna himself. Ramakrishna, a soft natured and dedicated dancer and guru had given training to many disciples in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and folk styles. His daughter Anuradha, also a dancer and composer of merit, took on the legacy of her celebrated father and continuing the activities of the Nrityamandali. The occasion for the function was the anniversary of the Nritya mandali. Prominent lawer Vemula Hazarattaiah Gupta inaugurated the proceedings and the chief guest was Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, M.L.A., Central Vijayawada. Other guests were K. Mallikarjuna Yadav, corporator and K.S. Govindarajan, principal of the Government College of Music and Dance.
As part of the function, the Nritya Mandali fittingly honoured well-known folk dancer J.S. Chalam, violin vidwan N.Ch. Butchaiahcharyulu, a lecturer of violin in the Music College. The meeting was followed by screening of a well-made documentary film titled ‘ `Natyame Swasa – Natyame Dhyasa which presented the bio-data of late Yellajosyula Ramakrishna tracing the life and achievements of the late master. The documentary was produced with the cooperation of Seeram Subramanyam, founder president of Vijayawada Cultural Academy. Towards the close of the function, a well-trained group of nearly 25 students of Yellajosyula Anuradha presented some attractive group dance items. The entire programme was organised by Anuradha and other family members and disciples of the late Natyacharya.
