He is not only a well-known designer, but he is an ardent devotee of Krishna and has a great passion for painting. His love for painting led him to artist Nritya Gopal Sharma, winner of President's award in 1992 for his Moghul paintings. Mehra's devotion for Gopala and his association with Sharma, has now led him to showcase his latest exhibition Janmashtami at his art gallery, Krishn, Sunil's Study, established way back in 1997. The exhibition is a celebration of different aspects of Lord Krishna's life.
The sequence of these exclusive paintings depicts the early days of Baal Gopal along with the display of designer's spiritual collection of clothings by Mehra. The paintings portray the tales of life of Krishna, particularly the bright phases.
Says Gopal Sharma, “These paintings are my dedication towards Lord Krishna and I get a lot of solace from praying. I have used oil colour, pure gold foil and American zircon for the paintings.”
Designer clothes
Mehra, who specialises in making designer wear creations for men, says every design of his symbolises a different concept. His collection includes traditional clothing like sherwanis, angarakhas, suits, robes and kurtas. “Lord Krishna is an inspiration to me and my concepts are all related to him,” says Mehra, who has recently come out with a coffee table book which refers to the beautiful journey of Radha-Krishna Milan. The book shows the beauty of Radha Rani and her love for Krishna and gives a new perspective to his art and fashion.
The exhibition is on till September 15.
