Two youngsters proved their talent in their concerts arranged by LANKAS (Laya Nada Kala Sravanthi) at Sri Sivaramakrishna Kshetram, Vijayawada. The first one was a fine vocal by Kumari Lanka Tejaswi, a disciple of Anjana Sudhakar. Tejaswi began her concert with Sahana varnam and followed with a fine rendition of Dikshitar’s Vatapi Ganapathim Bhajeham in Hamsadhvani and next came Sobhillu Saptaswara in Jaganmohini which was finished with good kalpanaswaras. Mysore Vasudevachar’s Devadi Deva in Sunadana was rendered with neat diction. Rara Rajeeva Lochan of Vasudevachar was one of the major items in the concert rendered finely by Tejaswi. The alapana and swaras in the kirtana promised bright future for the singer. After singing a couple of Thyagaraja Divyanama kirtanas Tejaswi closed the concert with a tillana in Dhanasri.

Next there was a vocal concert by Darbha Mriduravali, a worthy disciple of late vidwan Ampolu Muralikrishna. Her concert began with an attractive varnam in Charukesi and followed it with a rare kirtana Vallabha in Madhyamavathi as the sub main item. Attractive raga essay preceded the kirtana and Mriduravali rendered the kalpanaswaras with good command. Another attractive item in her concert was the elaborately presented Ramachandram Bhavayami in Vasanta rendered with pleasing raga and swaras. Dachukovalena of Thyagaraja in Todi came as the main item in Mriduravali’s concert. Mriduravali amply proved her mettle in the raga elaboration and kalpanaswaras. Fine support for the two concerts was provided by M. Chandrakant on the violin and K. Aravind on the mridangam.
