The Office of English Language Programmes in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Department of State launched an American English website www.americanenglish.state.gov last week. It provides material for students of English, teachers’ professional development, and resources to use in the classroom free of cost.

The website makes it easy to share material, including teacher training publications, activity ideas, books and songs. It also provides non-commercial English Language learning resources to the public.

The website provides access to Trace Effects, an exciting 3-D interactive online video game that explores English language and American culture while taking the user to cities and locations across the United States. American English also provides access to information to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ exchange programmes and educational opportunities in the U.S., as well as first-hand accounts from previous participants to help find the right programme.
