College Day: Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, celebrated its eighth college day recently.

Neil Rodrigues, Senior Project Manager, Infosys Ltd., Mangaluru, was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he asked students to keep themselves updated with the latest developments in technology and use them for helping society.

Antony A.J., Vice-Principal, read out the report for the academic year 2014-15 and highlighted the many achievements and accolades received by the college.

He said that the college management has earmarked Rs. 50 lakh for student research projects for 2015-16.

Academic toppers of each semester and best outgoing students of each branch were felicitated.

Blood donation: The Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, in association with Tejaswini Hospital, Mangaluru, organised a blood donation camp on the campus recently. In all, 205 units of blood were donated by staff and students of the college.

The camp was organised to create awareness about the importance of blood donation among students. A.P. Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration, welcomed the gathering. Mallavi Saichandra from Tejaswini Hospital spoke about the benefits and importance of blood donation.

Awareness: Shree Devi Institute of Technology organised a talk on ‘Anti-ragging and drug abuse’ for engineering students. Narasimha Murthy, Police Inspector, Traffic and Crime, Mangaluru, and Ramesh, Police Inspector, Traffic and Crime were the invited speakers.

Dilip Kumar K., Principal, Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Kenjar, was the guest.

Mr. Murthy spoke about different kinds of drugs circulated in the country which are harmful.

Mr. Ramesh spoke on anti-ragging measures. In case of ragging in educational institutions like colleges, a written complaint should be filed with the Principal of the institution. Action will be taken following inquiry, he said.
