Recuperating from a “grievous” injury in his ear

An eight-year old boy, studying in a Central school at Kalapet, is recuperating from a “grievous” injury in his ear which he sustained in a punishment meted out to him by his school teacher.

According to a senior police officer, the incident occurred at the Kendriya Vidyalaya on the Pondicherry University campus on December 18 last year.

A complaint was received against the teacher, Lal Krishna Sura, that he had slapped the boy. On the same day the boy was referred to the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute here for medical opinion.

Based on the medical certificate that the boy sustained “grievous injury” on his ear, a case was registered against the teacher.

On December 23, a charge sheet was filed in a local court, the police said.
