India initiative at UPEACE

The University for Peace (UPEACE) at Costa Rica, mandated by the United Nations, is offering educational programmes in International Law, Environmental Studies, Peace Studies and Gender Studies. The focus at UPEACE is not merely static theories and textbooks. Taught by top experts and UN officials, students are encouraged to engage with the material and also given the opportunity to network with people around the world.

The new “India Initiative” aims at increasing the participation of the Indian educational sector in the global effort for peace building. More seats have been allotted for Indians in the annual summer school which will be held between June 3 and July 15.

UPEACE is exploring potential partnerships with Indian educational institutions and the idea of further opportunities for students to complete their master’s programmes and also of dual or joint master’s programmes. Students from such universities may get preference for UN internships.

For more information about UPEACE and the summer school, contact S.M. Ali (smohammad@upeace.org) or visit upeace.org.
